OurCarbon at the ACI Foundation’s Concrete Innovation Forum
Last month, Garrett Benisch, our Director of Design Development, spoke at the ACI Foundation's 2025 Concrete Innovation Forum, which took place August 12-14 in Denver, Colorado.

The Forum, organized by the ACI Foundation’s Concrete Innovation Council, is one of the industry’s most important gatherings for inventors, early adopters, and thought leaders. With attendance intentionally limited to around 100 people, it offers a unique opportunity for direct engagement with the latest innovations, case studies, new materials, and strategies to lower embodied carbon in concrete.

Unlike large industry events, which focus on scale and visibility, this intimate setting allows for building stronger relationships with stakeholders, closer collaboration, and more direct engagement with decision makers that can move the needle forward on project ideas and initiatives.
“The event gave a lot of face time between scientists, engineers, project developers, and innovators like Bioforcetech. It’s exciting to see so many topics and materials entering the concrete industry,” said Benisch.
During his presentation, Garrett shared insights from Bioforcetech's groundbreaking OurCarbon concrete project in the Bay Area.

Dubbed the 'Low Carbon Campus,' the project infused OurCarbon into two different structural grade concrete mixes: a sitework mix used for a stairway and walkway to the entrance of the campus and a footing mix used to anchor a retaining wall. The total carbon storage of the project was 2.13 tons of CO2e infused into 55 cubic yards of concrete.
The project was a collaboration with David Shook and the team at SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill), Alana Guzzetta and Central Concrete/Vulcan Materials Company, and Tristan Springer and the team at Valorize Systems (formerly CarbonPilot). Read more about the project here.
We're proud to be part of a movement that's pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction and carbon-smart materials. OurCarbon production is scaling from 300 to 900 tons/year output capacity, with systems in the Bay Area and the Northeast US. We have completed durability testing with various doses and are confident in the material’s ability to be utilized within structural-grade concretes.
We look forward to continuing to collaborate with leaders across design, engineering, and construction to push the boundaries of what’s possible for low-carbon concrete. If you are interested in working together, please contact us.
